The
cost of your garden design will naturally depend on the amount of work involved
in producing your it. That's why the first step is for us to meet and discuss
your requirements, then a no obligation quotation will be prepared and agreed
on before any work commences. That said, we understand that you may want a broad
idea of costs before taking that first step, and so the following information
is for guidance. Although initially a full garden design service may seem
expensive; an average spend on a small domestic garden is in the region of £6,000
- £10,000. Spending 10% - 12% of this on a design will be a worthwhile investment.
The end result will be tailor-made to your requirements with hard landscaping,
design style and plants chosen individually for you.
Client
Consultation & Initial Site Visit Back>>
Designing
your garden starts with our Consultant assessing your requirements and discussing
ideas you may already have for your garden. Features you would like to be included,
style and use of the garden will all be taken into account during this consultation. Examples
of Selina's work will be available to view from her portfolio. Most
clients are surprised by how many questions are asked, during the visit but this
is essential to gain an understanding of what you require, to produce a coherent
design that matches your tastes, lifestyle, personality and budget. The
charge for this one hour consultation will be £50 within a 25 mile radius
of Stansted Mountfitchet. For gardens elsewhere there will be an additional charge
to cover travelling time and expenses. If you wish to proceed,
a written quotation for the cost of your design plus a copy of our Terms and
Conditions will be sent to you. You will also receive a contract, and if you are
satisfied with this, we will request you to return a signed copy to us along with
a deposit of 25%. We will then arrange to conduct a site survey. Site
Analysis & Survey Back>>
We
will conduct site survey of your garden which includes taking photographic records,
noting the gardens aspect, measuring dimensions and levels of the site and taking
soil samples. A note will be made of any features and plants that are to be retained.
This is to enable an accurate scaled site plan to be produced which will be used
as a basis for the design.
Outline
Design Proposal Back>>
With
the information gained from the site survey, we return to the drawing board to
create a pencil Outline Design Proposal which is drawn up taking into account
your individual requirements. This is the first draft of your Garden Design,
an appointment will be arranged for you to view this enabling you discuss any
ideas in detail and to make any alterations before the final design is completed.
From this outline proposal a final design will be drawn up. At
this time we would discuss a Planting Plan should you require one. This will be
unique to you, tailored to your garden conditions and your specific likes
and dislikes.
Final
Garden Design Back>> Following
our meeting, the final scaled design for your garden is drawn-up by hand, showing
all the proposed hard and soft landscaping. Once complete, we will arrange to
present the final plan to you, this plan may be coloured to give some idea of
schemes, and will be finished to a very high artistic standard.
With
the design complete you will now be in a position to build your garden. If you
need assistance with this final process, then we are here to help. We can provide
you with a list of recommended Landscape Contractors, and project manage the build
for you where a contractor has been employed, particularly if you have little
available time to oversee this yourself.
Planting
Plan & Schedule Back>> This
compliments the final design plan and shows the soft landscaping detail - new
and existing plants. The planting plan will be hand-drawn to scale detailing plant
positions, quantities and growth spreads of plants, with a full plant schedule.
Plants will be individually selected for the soil, climate, aspect, style and
seasonal requirements of your garden design. It might
be that your existing garden layout is basically as you want it but the plants
are dull, uninspiring or just past their best. Selina Rankin Garden Design can
assess your garden, test the soil and produce a planting plan. These can be
prepared for all or part of your garden even if you have not purchased a design
from us. It will still be necessary to measure the area, test the soil and discuss
your requirements. A firm quote will be given once the site has been assessed.
Sourcing
& Planting the Plants Back>> Once
the planting design is finalised Selina Rankin Garden Design can source all plants
specified, prepare the planting area, lay-out and plant the plants and provide
details of seasonal maintenance. Other
